My Favorite Mixtures, Recipes and Secrets
Hey Guys! I have been DYING to share with you all some of my favorite mixtures, recipes and secrets I use with my Monkey! Super simple, fun and most importantly safe for your little ones! Both concoctions are absolute necessities in my house.
Tyler went on antibiotics for the first time and I was NOT prepared for what was going to come out of his little butt! The poor little man!!!
After trying tons and tons of over the counter diaper rash creams to no avail I was loosing my mind! I even got to the point of letting him run around my house carefree with no diaper, just thinking the air might help! After an hour of cleaning up small little pee-pee dribbles in my house I knew this was not going to cut it! I went online and started my hunt for any home remedies I could find! I love the idea of making my own mixtures and knowing exactly what is in them and how they were made.
To all you diaper rash haunted parents out there I have found 2 remedies that I swear by and now use nothing but them on his tiny butt!
Maalox and Cornstarch:
It is very difficult to find old school Maalox anymore, however any store brand will work! I combine that with cornstarch and keep it in a glass jar in his room with a spoon. I first measure out about ½ cup of cornstarch. Add the Maalox (or store brand) to create a think cream.
A tip: Its better to have it thick so it sticks to their bottom, so go easy on the Maalox.
Once you have just the right texture (which definitely took me a couple attempts!) Grab a spoon and get to it! Apply very liberal, do not be afraid of how much you use, but do have a towel near by as it can be messy! Use every time you change his diaper, which should be very often if he has the rash! I promise you will see results within 24 hours!
Coconut Oil & Lavender:
I purchased a huge bottle of coconut oil from Amazon. In addition stock up on Lavender oil as well (can be bought at any Rite Aid) Boil the coconut oil down to a liquid. Let it cool. Once cool add lavender drops (about 12 drops to every 1 cup of oil).
Keep in a glass mason jar. I use every time I change him and it not only keeps him fresh, but it works as a calming agent for his bottom skin that can get so very irritated and painful.
Now get mixing!
