Designing Tyler’s Nursery …
Hey guys! Its been a while!!!! I have had a ton of people asking me about decorating my sons room. What furniture I used, colors I did etc. I decided to share a bit of our favorite place in my house with you!
I hope you enjoy it and I am so happy to be back and writing again not only about fashion fun but also a little mommy mixed in!!!
SO I have to admit that aside from stocking Tyler’s closet with the cutest clothing EVER and shoes galore, I simply could NOT wait to design his nursery. It was important to me that it was something Jim and I did together. I wanted to create something that gave us memories, and that we could share with him later in life.
Originally we had wanted to do a slate grey, with hints of navy. After painting the walls a dark grey I decided it wasn’t the look I wanted, and back to good old Blue we went. Jim and I could not decide what color blue we wanted, so instead we decided to use 4 different shades.
If you know my husband you know that Excel is his life! Creating the designs on the walls was almost as fun for him as doing a budget, and by that I mean he was in heaven! I have an obsession with Restoration Hardware Baby, and I couldn’t help but go a little crazy with the crib! I wanted something elegant and different, but something that was masculine enough that I didn’t get in trouble years later for putting him in a “girly crib”!
I went with the “Colette Crib” in slate grey.. I’m OBSESSED!!! I just thought it was regal, adorable and absolutely perfect for my first son! It also converts into a toddler bed, which is amazing!
Bedding I also did Restoration Hardware combined with some Pottery Barn. The Coco stuffed animal dog was one of the first things I bought for him and I am hoping will be his best friend!
The changing table matches the Colette set, also RHB which I paired on the wall with his glitter B!! I couldn’t help it!! A little glitter never hurt anyone!!!
I am in LOVE with the window seat in his room. My husband, yes husband sewed this perfect seersucker slipcover, which we combined with room darkening curtains and a few fun stuffed animals to play with! The final touch was a rocking chair (RHB) navy with white piping. Such a perfect cozy place for middle of the night feedings…and trust I have gotten a TON of use out of that chair!
I absolutely love his room, it brings me so much peace at 5am feedings just sitting and smiling down on my favorite little bunny knowing that his dad and I did it together…just for him! I absolutely do not have a career in interior design, however I couldn’t imagine a room that would bring me more smiles!
